Fender Telecaster-Inspired Guitar Pin
Several years ago, at a concert, I got the idea of making a series of brooches based on guitars. I love to work in acrylic and electric guitars seemed the perfect models for some acrylic brooches. This mixed media brooch is one of a series based on iconic electric guitars -- it is modeled after the Fender Telecaster.
The brooch is made of laminated, hand-cut and polished acrylic in turquoise and black.. Its features are represented by patterned sterling silver, sterling rivets, gray freshwater pearls and vintage watch crowns and gears.
I cut the shape out by hand with a jeweler's saw fitted with a spiral blade, belt sand, hand file and polish and refine the shape and then painstakingly add the details using various materials. Each brooch takes about 8 hours from start to finish.
This brooch is approximately 3.75" in total length and approximately 1.50" at its widest point. It is fitted with two tack pin fittings.
One of a kind.
